After the Great Division, some gods, too disappointed by what had happened, gave up on the experiment and moved on to other activities, but those who were still interested formed two groups: those fearful of the future and those still enthusiastic about what the new Unos could create on their new worlds. To appease both, was suggested the creation of...caretakers.
For some, these entities were meant to prevent exaggeration from the Unos, while others saw them as a way of stimulating and supporting the development of the wonders from the Unos' minds, even with their new limitations.
Depending on interest or need, a god could create a Zela for any of the worlds, acting as a bridge between the divine and Humanity. In addition to immortality, these figures were given the gift of assuming the form of a Uno whenever they wished, and some other attributes depending on their mission.
The plan was good, but some Zelas lost their way, and I haven't heard of a new Zela being created for many centuries.
Remember Zeus? Who doesn't, right? He was created to help men deal with storms but decided to become famous in the process. Despite obeying the gods, the Zelas' coexistence with men sometimes influences them in unexpected ways.

"Are you sure you didn't kill her?" - his voice was low and paused, as if he needed to catch his breath every few words, but there was a choleric firmness in his tone.
The curvaceous creature's round head nodded once.
"And the woman who accompanied her..." - Before he could finish, the snake's eyes widened, and it opened its mouth in an effusive sign, as if showing pride in what it had done.
"...you killed her. Right. And then you abandoned a child... alone... in the middle of a forest."
The snake retreated and remained motionless, seeming unresponsive.
Despite the difficulty, the weakened figure turned and said angrily: "So how are we going to find A GIRL. ALONE. IN. A. FOREST?!"
The creature's wide eyes became frightened, and it hissed three times, showing its teeth.
"You tagged her? Right... and only one woman accompanied her?" - The snake's body returned to a haughty posture as it nodded affirmatively.
With the tension dissipating, the creature kept an eye out for further instructions, which didn't come.
"We've made a lot of noise recently, and I'm in no condition to start a search. They say the gods protect drunks and children. Let's see what I can do with that."
And the almost transparent figure slowly stood up and left the snake alone.
